How to use Xiaomi Mi 3 as Modem

As I mentioned earlier, based on our requirements, there are two ways to achieve this. One is through using Xiaomi Mi 3 as Portable WiFi hotspot and another one is Xiaomi Mi 3USB modem.

Xiaomi Mi 3 WiFi hotspot

To use Xiaomi Mi 3 WiFi hotspot follow the instructions mentioned below.

1. Tap to Settings>General Settings>More..>Tethering & Portable Hotspot
2. Tap on to Portable hotspot. This will turn on your Mi 3 device as WiFi hotspot.

Customising Xiaomi Mi 3 WiFi Settings

Now you have already enabled WiFi hotspot. You need to customise the SSID and WiFi hotspot password according to your choice. To do so, follow the steps mentioned below.

• Tap on to Set up portable hotspot.
• Enter the desired Network SSID, security type and password.

Xiaomi Mi 3 USB tethering

To use Xiaomi Mi 3 as USB modem, follow the steps given below.

• Connect your Mi 3 to PC through USB cable
• Windows will automatically install the required Mi 3 drivers on your PC.
• Now follow the step 1 mentioned above.
• Tap to USB tethering.
